Sand and Water

Yesterday I heard a program about the recent sand storms travelling from Africa all the way to Poland and falling down there. They would not fall earlier (i.e. on Italy etc.) due to air pressure.

It brings to mind the fact that in Poland there is a dessert called Blendowska Desert, also called the Polish Sahara. According to scientists it is the only genuine desert-like area in Europe, outside of the main desert areas in the world we are aware of. It can also be the remnant of quite a busy trade route from Baltic Sea to Egypt in ancient times. It used to be a very financially profitable trail for amber merchants. Today it is a huge attraction for tourists.

That would be a short story about the past – what about the future? There are different theories – one states that central Europe, stretching from Poland to Italy will be a huge water corridor. All the area will be under water and life will seize to exist there. Quite an opposite theory claims that it will become a desert again. In this case, one would presume, life can continue there, however people would need to adjust. I guess we will, at least those who would live long enough, see which theory will manifest itself or what else will happen.

The newest predictions of the world map I have seen showed only parts of India, Australia and Indonesia being covered with water– the rest appears to remain as it is. Well – let’s see what the future will bring…

I have no idea how things will end up, but hope that it will have a positive outcome for all.
