Ideology - man or idea?

Often we think that ideology is something that concerns, touches and changes others… not us.

I came to this country from the world commonly known as “communists”, however it clearly shows that we still do not understand what “communism” means, since mine and other countries of the block were barely starting “socialism”, being far from communism. Nobody was or is spiritually prepared for the communist idea, which is a pure utopia of two people, who dreamt about the perfect world. In a sense they were following a Plutonian concept of “Utopia”, where everyone had a pure heart and the best possible intentions. Not yet, unfortunately.

Then in my old country, the time came when the majority of the people had enough of pretending and scoring for something not achievable at the time and after a few very bloody and unsuccessful attempts to change the political and the economic system, they finally got it right. Why?

I am not a political scientist to begin deeply analyzing this, but I have my own first-hand experience and point of view. I had lived in Poland during Solidarity and shortly after. I wasn’t a hero, but I did my part in distributing books and papers. There were masses of people like me. We did understand that education is a clue for the masses to understand and comprehend the idea of change. And that it can be done by evolution, not revolution.

In my opinion the main problem here is that the majority of people sooner or later begin to identify themselves not with the idea, but with the people representing the idea. Those people will fail us with time, since man has no chance in comparison with the idea. People can be motivational, role models, but we will constantly keep bringing them down due our own understanding of their motivations, rules or governing forces. That happened with many ideas and people representing them – in Poland, a perfect example being Mr. Walesa. Human can fail, idea will live forever.

Idea is always pure, innocent and inspirational. It lives for millennia, bringing the same jubilation, exaltation and instigation. Idea never dies, even though we can put it aside to rest for some time. Then, when someone will bring it up again – the idea is as fresh and pure as it has been before. That’s the power of an idea. That’s why when one has an idea and perceive it, it will inspire him and give him great power to overcome all predicaments.

What are your ideas, ideals and ideology?
