Fulfilled Live

Everyday someone inspires us by his or her words or actions. Are you aware of that?

Today my friend’s husband (who is also my friend) inspired me during our supper.

Let’s start from the beginning: I am in Nova Scotia, Canada to teach a couple of courses on advanced dowsing. In between the two courses, which take place one week apart, I am staying with my friends in Truro. Today all three of us had supper together and talked about our experiences during our business travels. Both of my friends traveled a lot during their active lives, so there were many wonderful stories and discussions about the experiences from all of the different countries and cultures.

When we were almost done, my friend’s husband said: “I was often amazed by what I have seen and experienced and repeatedly reminded myself to have my eyes and ears open, since this is magic and one day I will come back to normal life and that will be an end of it all. That many people have no idea how abundant in cultures, customs and traditions the world is and most of them will not have a chance to experience even a small part of it. I was lucky to be there, took courage to step out of the “paved path” and emerge into local life, which often could also be very dangerous. But I did it anyway, so I could just, even for moment, touch the life of others. Real life. Real people. Real culture. So now, when I quietly live in Truro, NS, I do not dream about anything, I enjoy my life and have in my head a huge library of memories.”

I thought about it and came to the conclusion that life should be fulfilled. We should grow and have courage to stretch our limits to know more, understand deeper and experience all what is possible. Then, when we are older and less willing or daring, we can dwell and remember those memories as changed people who are wiser and happier. When we do that, there is nothing to be sorry about, nothing to regret, nothing to wonder “what if…” There is simply the pure joy of knowing.

In my case – I have organized my personal and professional life the way that I have traveled to teach and – when my son was younger – he would travel with me to see the world and experience its variety from childhood. Now as a grown man he travels by himself, creating his own adventures. And I travel my way; experiencing what is there for me. How splendid life is!

So when I return back from Nova Scotia, I will departing to New Zealand – never been there, so again a new world, new experiences, new people and new challenges…

Only when we are ready to take on challenges, take some risks in hopes to win and gain even more, life makes sense. I remember that my friends from the other side have said to me once: “Nobody promised that your life will be easy, the promise was that it will be juicy.” And it is!

What are your challenges? Where does your courage lie?
