In Ancient Egypt this symbol was often used in jewelry of gold, silver, gemstone, wood or porcelain, to ensure good health and safety of the owner’s wisdom and prosperity. It is also known as "Eye of Ra", a symbol of powerful destructive force combined with the heat of the sun. In ancient Egypt though it was called "Ra's Daughter" because it was personified with the goddess Vadette and a number of other goddesses including: Hathor, Bast, Sekhmet.
Ancient medicine used the symbol of Eye of Horus as a unit for measuring the components of drugs and pigments. For this purpose the symbol was divided into six parts. Each piece was associated with one of the six senses and assigned to a particular fraction.
At the time of ancient Egypt there was two mystical schools of Eye of Horus, with believe that both of them together symbolize the wholeness of universal knowledge.

- the right eye of Horus represents the rational left brain. Students of the Right Eye School approach the universe from the male point of view by dealing with words, letters and numbers.
- the left eye of Horus represents the more abstract information controlled by the right brain. It deals with esoteric concepts, emotions and intuition. It is connected with passive energy. Students of this school approach the universe with a more feminine orientation.
