How To Dowse

Dowsing procedure:

  1. Hold the pendulum between thumb and index fingers (without applying unnecessary pressure) by the bead in the middle of string with your dominant hand. Left-handed people hold pendulum in left hand. Keep the rest of the string loosely in the palm of the same hand.
  2. Clear the pendulum by tapping it gently against a hard surface (table, book, etc). If you use pendulum which must be cleared (information either certain pendulum is self-clearing or not you will find as part of pendulums descriptions), tap it against hard surface. Pendulum should be “empty” while dowsing, dealing only with the energy of your actual problem.
  3. In your mind ask: “Show me the YES direction” and repeat this question until you will see steady, obvious movement of your pendulum.
  4. Say: “Thank you. Now show me the NO direction”.  You must wait until pendulum will loose the energy from YES and begin to move in other direction, which will signify “No“ answer.
  5. After memorizing both movements you may start to use your pendulum for your own purposes.
  6. ALWAYS formulate your question to require YES or NO answer. Ambiguous question results in ambiguous or non-answer:
    •           * Is the weather good? The answer will depend on your definition of good weather.
    •           * Is it raining? It is strait forward (direct) question not depending of your definition or understanding , since either it is raining or it is not.
    •        REMEMBER: Keep your mind clear by focusing on your question not on desired answer.
  7. Wait until pendulum will begin moving in a regular pattern. The direction of the movement will signify the answer to your question.
  8. If the pendulum movement become erratic, take break. When beginning practice 15-20 minutes at a time is a good length of time to practice.
Remember: enjoy your dowsing!
